You Can Still Visit The First Ever Website On The Internet

wcccc

Today marks one of the most important days in world history – the introduction of the World Wide Web.

Back on August 23, 1991, Sir Tim Berners-Lee pressed the button to launch www.’s everywhere and thus fuelled the fire that is the modern world, reports theHuffington Post.

On this day, known as Internaut Day, Tim and his company, Cern, finally handed over the web to the public and promised that it would always be royalty free.

However, despite the trillions (probably more) of changes that the web has brought about, you can still visit the very first website ever in existence – although I hate to be the bringer of an anticlimax but it isn’t too jaw-dropping nowadays.

Head on over to http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html if you fancy having a gander at the first ever site in the history of sites.

The website claims that ‘The WorldWideWeb (W3) is a wide-area hypermedia information retrieval initiative aiming to give universal access to a large universe of documents’… Catchy. I like it.

Now, as you’d probably expect, the first ever web page is in fact a holding page which helps explain what the world wide web is and how new users can start using it.

However, despite being incredibly dull to our eyes in 2016, it still remains absolutely fascinating that the world wide web – the one thing above all others which dominates our everyday lives – spiralled out of this one boring web page.

Happy birthday, World Wide Web!

Introducing A New Way To Play Battlefield, Starting With Battlefield 4

Try out the new Battlefield user interface, designed to improve the experience of playing with friends.

We're always looking for new ways to improve your Battlefield experience. While we're currently hard at work creating Battlefield 1, we still want to improve the experience for past Battlefield games – changes that will help unite Battlefield players regardless of whether they're playing Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline, or Battlefield 1 in October. That's why we're happy to introduce something that will provide a more intuitive and centralized experience.

The new Battlefield user interface is designed to improve the experience of playing with friends and to bring relevant content to your attention.

Now, you're able to create a Squad before you actually enter into a game. Being able to join up with your friends and join into a game together makes it a much smoother experience, and helps make sure you're able to spawn on your buddies as soon as you're in the game.

There are other changes as well that you'll want to see for yourself, like a recommendation engine to suggest maps, modes, and more, giving you a more relevant and fine-tuned experience that quickly gets you to the things you want to do.

This new UI is currently rolling out in beta form in Battlefield 4 for a small audience, and we’ll have more information on additional testing opportunities in the coming months. This will also be released with Battlefield 1 (and Battlefield Hardline soon after that). Once it's rolled out for all three games, you'll be able to easily swap between the games as long as you own them. Want to jump from St. Quentin Scar in Battlefield 1 to the skyscrapers of Shanghai in Battlefield 4? It'll be easier than ever.

Let us know what you think, and stay tuned for more updates as we approach the release of Battlefield 1 on October 21!

Be daring, defy gravity and punch your fears straight in the mouth with Cunning Stunts, a visually surreal and over-the-top evolution to racing in GTA Online, coming Tuesday, July 12th.

Stunt Races happen on a massive scale, towering above the Los Santos skyline or soaring between the treacherous blades of RON Alternates Windmill Farm. Vehicles tear upside-down through loops and tubes, launch off ramps with extra propulsion from speed strips, diverge and merge across multiple pathways, and speed through gigantic rings of fire in death-defying new Races.
